Through its two departments, the Faculty of Education offers 12 different programs to prepare professional teachers and teacher educators. The Faculty also offers M.Phil. and Doctoral programs in Education. Students' and instructors' active participation offers a firm foundation for research in sectors such as teacher education, school education, higher education, educational administration and management, and so on. Aside from that, through the IASE, the faculty has been providing training to in-service teachers at various levels. The Faculty of Education is one of seventeen related faculties under the umbrella of Charles University. Its main objective is to train teachers and other teaching staff for different types of schools and educational systems, at different levels (Bachelor and Master) and standards. While five other faculties at Charles University are also officially qualified to train teachers, what sets the Faculty of Education apart is the length and complexity of the focus on education. The faculty offers education for pre and postgraduate faculties in the following fields: Humanities, Social Sciences, Art Education, Physical Education, Mathematics and Natural Sciences. The Faculty currently trains approximately 4,200 students in both undergraduate and master's degree programs, plus nearly 10,000 students taught in a variety of integrated programs, mainly as part of "professional teacher development".
